There is a clear proposal behind this piece of research: studying the memory of the family trunk system in an area of the Region of Valencia (Els Ports). This model of development is associated with a way of dispersed habitat with extensive farming known as “masía” and specifically carried out from the 18th century in that region and in the neighbouring Maestrat region. The interviews with the inhabitants of Els Ports bear witness to that model of inheritance and experience, delving into the elements of tension and conflict that arose from time to time among the different subjects involved in the application of this model of sharing out inheritances and estate.
