On May 4 in the Portuguese town of Portimao, the EMYA judges will announce the winner of the EMYA European Museum of the Year 2024 award. At that time, the ETNO will pass the award to another institution. The recognition that the EMYA awards, linked to the Council of Europe, have meant for our museum and for the popular and traditional Valencian culture to which we are dedicated, has marked a milestone that we will never forget.
The EMYA awards were created by the English museologist Kenneth Hudson with the intention of recognizing and rewarding innovation and public quality in the field of European museums. The ETNO, a public and Valencian institution, has always been linked to that idea: to offer the public a rigorous and innovative work from the material that gives us the traditional and popular culture found in our towns and cities. We still have a long way to go, but we will do it with the same enthusiasm.
