The Patronato de la Juventud Obrera is a Catholic, private education centre founded in 1883 by Gregori Gea Miguel, a Valencian educator and pedagogue who was dedicated to promoting and teaching underprivileged young people, with the help of the Amigos del País Society.
The collection consists of different items about the Patronato's activity: events, school outings to the mountains around the Cueva Santa sanctuary in Altura, and in Casa de San José in Serra (1906-1930). There are also photographs of visits by celebrities to the Patronato in Valencia (archbishopric members, military officers and politicians of Franco's regime, 1940-1970), sporting activities (Gimnástico Club de Fútbol whose origins date back to the Patronato in 1909), school activities and also images of the 1957 flood.
