Infant and Primary Education
Espanta la por is a project that aims to keep the knowledge among children around the traditional imaginary of Valencian monsters using the opportunity provided by the popularity of Halloween celebrations. That is an ideal time to talk about the Bag Man, the Butoni, the Tarasca, the Patriarch's Dragon, the Caro, goblins or witches, and to learn more about them through the fables and fantastic legends of the Valencian imaginary of fear.
This project is promoted by the library and the Didactics Department of L’ETNO and comprises different activities and didactic proposals aimed at:
• Schools, with workshops and activities to be carried out in schools or in the museum.
• Libraries and local museums.
• Families, at weekend workshops on Sundays in October and November.
The Library of L'ETNO in collaboration with the Teacher Training Service of the Generalitat Valenciana and the museum's didactic department, offers these groups a series of educational resources aimed at achieving the following objectives:
• Broadcast the popular Valencian imaginary about fear.
• Encourage reading and knowledge of popular Valencian literature.
• Work on the emotion of fear.
• Promote the use of libraries.
• Encourage the local compilation of legends and fables.
