The main objective of this exhibition project is to offer a didactic and cross-sectional vision of the material culture of the Franco dictatorship. It proposes an analysis of the mechanisms that the dictatorship used to rewrite the history and acquire legitimacy.
The protagonists of the exhibition are the objects that allow to analyze the omnipresence of the symbols and slogans of a totalitarian regime in everyday life, in education at schools or in gender roles and private and public settings. The material culture of Francoism is a paradigmatic example of the policies of doctrine, censorship and repression that characterize the great machinery that the Francoist military regime will establish in Spain.
