Em-plazados

Workshop in which we will reflect on the uses of the squares and invite attendees to imagine how to achieve a more livable, green, dynamic and designed for children environment. We will discuss what aspects of traditional Valencian society we can rescue, not only when it comes to building structures, but also when it comes to relating to each other. To build our ideal square, participants will create models with cardboard, wood and cardboard, following the principles of sustainable architecture. What if we returned to the street to "take the air"?

Farmland in paper

The farmland of Valencia is like a large larder of more than 10,000 hectares in which we have wonderful products that are part of our gastronomic culture, such as tomatoes, artichokes, garrofó or tiger nuts.

In this workshop we will tell you curiosities about our vegetable garden and we will create different Mediterranean fruits and vegetables, in natural size and volume with different types of materials.

Tickets can be collected via the website at the link on the right, from the Thursday before each workshop.

Song of the paper rose

Poetry and creativity go hand in hand. Many artists have developed their works inspired by the verses of an author. Thanks to this we have paintings, plays or songs.
We will make, with recycled material, our craft based on a well-known poem by Vicent Andrés Estellés, which you can give to someone you love. We are waiting for you!

Press release

Treasures with history II

In this exhibition you can see objects from the second and third seasons of the programme.

Treasures with history is a programme that the Valencian Public Television À Punt has been broadcasting successfully for the last three seasons. It deals with the objects that people keep as precious material, as an emotional treasure full of experiences and memories. It is a well-known fact that objects have the capacity to establish emotional connections with people, and the complexity of this relationship is the subject of Treasures with history. L'ETNO now brings you closer to this universe of objects that from history, ethnology or art have built part of our memory as a people over the last 200 years.

Produced in collaboration with the Valencian Institute of Culture, Treasures with History 2 is an exhibition organised by L'ETNO to show the public the more than one hundred treasures selected for the programme.

Educational workshop

The Christmas village

Welcome to the Christmas village!

A workshop where children will paint little houses and Christmas trees to create their own Christmas village. A village made with paper, glue, paints, beads and lots of glitter. Afterwards, the children will be able to put LED lights in their houses to illuminate the windows of their little Christmas village, just as they used to do in the olden days.
These decorations, which were already popular in the 18th century and especially from the second half of the 20th century onwards, were miniature villages that people made out of cardboard and paper in their homes.
And where does this tradition of decorative Christmas villages built around the Christmas tree come from? Well, it has its roots in the late 18th century Christmas traditions of the Moravian Church, a Protestant denomination with early settlements in Salem, North Carolina, Bethlehem and Pennsylvania. After World War II, some companies began mass-producing houses, churches and other buildings. Buildings usually had holes in the back or bottom through which Christmas lights were placed to provide illumination.
We will create our own Christmas village to decorate our house as they did in the 18th century, with a lot of creativity and imagination.

Espanta la por! 2023

Per Tots Sants, monstres valencians

Once again this year, the Espanta la por campaign is here to vindicate our fantastic imagination with activities of all kinds, both for adults and for children. And as every year for the last eight years, we are not alone, we are accompanied by many local ethnological museums, libraries and Valencian schools!

This year we have something new: as well as being in the real world, we have also entered the world of podcasts. Espanta la por 2023 is the birth of The names of fear, the first podcast of L'ETNO in which we will reflect on the fears of adults, the fears of Valencian people, and we will be accompanied by Valencian podcasters on this four-programme journey, in Valencian, to talk about monsters, legends, literature, death... You are invited to the recording of some of the programmes, but please let us know that you are coming, lest you don't leave room for monsters and imagination!

Of course, we will also enjoy many activities in the "real world", which we are sure you will like very much. Come and have a great time in our space to scare the fear away!

Check out the programme!
