Behind any everyday object, piece of clothing, or work tool, the people who filled them with meaning and feelings live on. The objects speak of those who created and used them. They help us understand better the ways of life, techniques and social practices that were common in traditional society or that are transforming the present world. The collections have been assembled with the generous donations of many people, with restoration work carried out by the museum team and through acquisitions.
The museum has the main Valencian ethnological collection, made up of more than 12,000 objects of very diverse nature classified according to their use. Only a small part, around 650 objects, are on display in the museum's permanent exhibition. The rest are safeguarded in the Museum Repository.
